About this tool
Dice Roller at a glance
No dice on hand? Roll one or more dice online right here. Pick the type — from the classic d6 to the d20 for role-playing games (written W6 and W20 in German) — and see every single result along with the total. The virtual dice roller is perfect for board games, pen-and-paper sessions, or gaming on the go.
Dice types from d4 to d100
Pick the die that fits: the classic d6 for board games, or d4, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100 for role-playing. The “d” stands for die, the singular of dice (d6 = six-sided die); in German the same dice are written with a “W” for Würfel, for example W20. You can roll several dice at once; the individual faces and the overall total appear instantly and can be copied with a single click.
As fair as real dice
Every face is equally likely, determined by crypto.getRandomValues. Unlike a worn-out plastic die, nothing here tips in favor of one side. Handy when your dice have gone missing, when you're playing away from home, or when you want to make probability visible in class with a lot of rolls.
Choosing the right dice type
Before you roll a die online, pick the type you need. For most board games the classic d6 with values from one to six is all it takes. Role-playing games, on the other hand, often use other shapes, from the d4 through the d20 all the way to the d100 for very fine-grained results. You can also roll several dice at once and have the total shown directly.
- d6 for common family games and quick decisions
- d20 for checks and combat in role-playing games
- Several matching dice for damage or point rolls
- Copy the result with one click and pass it on
That lets you reproduce almost any rolling rule without having real dice with you. When a die has gone missing, the digital version steps in without any fuss. The copyable total also helps you record results in a chat or on a character sheet.
Handy on game nights and on the move
The biggest advantage shows up when no real dice are within reach. At the kitchen table, on the train or in the park, all you need is your device to roll a d6 or a d20. Because you can trigger several dice at once, even complex role-playing rolls go quickly.
The digital version is useful in the classroom too, for instance to demonstrate probability or hand out tasks at random. Since every result comes about independently, the online dice roller behaves as fairly as a physical die that isn't wedged or loaded. Just make sure to pick the right type before you roll, so the range matches your rules. If you want to share the result, use the copy function and send the rolled numbers on without any typos. That keeps the game flowing even at a distance.
