Numbers

Generate a random number online

Generate a random number between your minimum and maximum.

Result

Min and max are both included. The draw uses your browser's secure randomness, with no modulo bias.

About this tool

Random Number at a glance

Set a minimum and a maximum, then draw one or more random numbers. Fair down to the last percent thanks to cryptographic randomness — without the skew of the classic modulo trap. Handy for raffles, games, samples, or whenever you just need a fair number.

How to draw fair random numbers

Set a minimum and a maximum, then choose how many numbers you need. Both bounds are included, so with a range of 1 to 49 both the 1 and the 49 can come up. For raffles, turn off “Allow duplicates” — then every number drawn is unique.

Why a plain random modulo skews the odds

Many generators take a random value modulo the range, which quietly favors the smaller numbers. This tool uses rejection sampling on top of crypto.getRandomValues instead: values from the skewed tail end are thrown away until an unbiased number remains. That makes the distribution genuinely even across the whole range — ideal for samples, winning numbers or in-game situations.

Four steps to the number you need

To generate a random number online, start by setting the range. Enter a minimum and a maximum value; both bounds count. Then decide how many numbers you want to draw at once and whether repeats are allowed.

  • Enter min and max, for example 1 and 49
  • Choose how many numbers you want
  • Allow or exclude duplicates
  • Start the draw and take the result

If you exclude duplicates, you get a set of distinct values — ideal for lottery picks or a raffle without double entries. If you allow repeats, each individual draw behaves independently, just like rolling a die several times. Because both bounds are inclusive, you never have to nudge the edges by hand. So you can have one or several random numbers generated quickly, without doing any math yourself.

Why clean randomness matters

Not every method produces genuinely even values. Many home-grown approaches unknowingly favor certain numbers, particularly at the edges of the range. This generator avoids exactly that by using a method that discards skewed results and draws again. As a result, every number in the range has exactly the same probability.

For you, that mainly means reliability. Whether you are drawing a sample for a survey, need an example for a lesson, or are handing out tasks at random — you can rely on no number being quietly disadvantaged. It is worth keeping the results for a while if you may need to back them up later, for instance in a public raffle. If you want to be especially transparent, run the draw in front of witnesses. That keeps it verifiable that the random number really did come about unbiased and unplanned.

Frequently asked

Random Number: frequently asked questions

Are the minimum and maximum included?

Yes. Both bounds can be drawn — the range is inclusive.

Can I draw several numbers without repeats?

Yes. Turn off “Allow duplicates” and every number drawn will be unique — ideal for raffles.

How random are the numbers?

Very. It uses crypto.getRandomValues with unbiased selection, not a simple Math.random modulo.

Are my inputs stored?

No. The range you set and the numbers you draw stay in your browser alone; nothing is transmitted to a server.
